Prepaid Jet Card programs (also referred to as Private Jet Membership programs) are a good alternative for those who generally fly between 25-50 hours per year. In these private jet programs, your one-time, upfront payment guarantees you a set number of flight hours, with no further obligation once the hours are flown. Some programs offer a short-term pre-paid lease in a specific aircraft of your choice from a fractional fleet -- an ideal alternative for individuals or businesses that are interested in all the benefits of fractional jet ownership, but who are not ready to make the full financial commitment or may not travel often enough to warrant fractional ownership.
However, please do your research. Some private jet membership programs are essentially charter brokers; they don't own or manage any aircraft and they charter different aircraft (often the lowest priced option) for each scheduled flight. From flight to flight you do not know the aircraft you'll be flying on, and don't know the reputation of the actual aircraft provider. It is imperative that you determine the actual source of the aircraft you will be flying on. |
